Had a great day going through Sonic Orchard and organizing the mic closet and cleaning up a bit. I put some new photos of some of the gear on my photos page. Yes that is a rack made of 2 × 4s and yes the gear is mounted with wood screws. Yes, the mic closet is actually a vintage safe. And shhh…..The Trident 80B and the Studer 24 track are sleeping…...The mic cabinet is amazing. Vintage U67s, C451s and 414s. Royers, korby and Beyer ribbons. This place is going to sound dope. I spent the morning in my studio working on more guitar and vocal stuff. It’s going really well. I’ve got the Kyma generating random loops based on pitch and everything. Which is nice.

Wow. Check the photos page. I uploaded two of Chrissy’s new pieces. They rock. Images printed on clear film mounted on antique mirrors. Amazing.

The new photopage is up! It’s using a very cool new Pivot extension by Lorenzo Ferrara. I can upload images from my Nokia 6600 right to the photos page! In fact i am writing this entry from my phone. Very exciting. Rain rain go away. Things are coming together up at Sonic Orchard. New music online tomorrow.

It’s still snowing. not really accumulating but it’s wet and nasty outside. Probably killed the music conference this weekend. Bummer. I’ve got a new Pivot extension to better manage my photo page. I’ve taken down the page for now. Except for a cool shot of Chrissy and the snow. I’ll have a better gallery setup tomorrow morning. Aint no sunshine…

Met with Vince and company about the film project that Sonic Orchard is bidding on. Great bunch of guys. Motivated, organized, and sharp. Hope it all works out, it would be a pleasure to work with them. Check out the film’s website over there —>. In other news : it’s snowing. and cold. and not going to stop for a few days. Brrrr. and Grrrr. Good thing I got in a bunch of golf the week. I’m being blow away by my Nokia 6600. Between bluetooth and the Symbian OS it’s a laptop replacement. I’ve got the ability to open .pdf, word, and excel files. Great browser, games and utility applications. Wowza. I’ve got a Nintendo emulator w/ Marble Madness and MegaMan! Got back in my studio this week. More guitar and vocal musings. I’ll post some new loops and sounds tomorrow. Cranbrook’s senior thesis opening was last night at the Gallery at Cranbrook. Amazing work. A lot of the work made full use of the large spaces and great lighting. I was particlarly taken by Jennifer Pellman’s tension piece, and the wooden ‘horse’ forms. It was a great show that really validates the schools reputation as the finest graduate studio art academy in the US. MegaGood.

I am pleased to announce that I’ll be starting to engineer at Sonic Orchard Studios on a very regular basis. John Centela and Eric Ross have put together a great vibe and great facility. It’s on an apple orchard in Macomb Township, MI. I’ll be engineering with Brian Woodring(check out his website popcycle) and will be assisted by Ty Phillips and Justin Alice. Gear includes Trident 80B Console, Studer A80 2”, ProTools HD, great outboard gear, and a well stocked mic closet. Give me a shout if you’d like to come by and see the place. I’m very excited about the situation and am looking forward to making great music out there. Stay tuned…

Back to Detroit after two weeks in Philly recording Connie, Reem, and Lil’ Ru. Good sessions. We got a lot done. Ru and Reem are very impressive. Reem has a very dramatic poetic style. He really communicates well and has a voice that cuts. Ru is a cross between Cee Lo and Gift of Gab. Very rhythmic, southern style. Both of them are edgy and entertaining. Looking forward to getting back into the studio this week to work on my own stuff. Also meeting with Sonic Orchard this week. Their console, a Trident 80B has been comissioned. Nice nice. Playing golf tuesday monrning, anyone down?

Taking the weekend off after a productive week with Connie, Reem, and Lil’ Rol. Spending time with Chrissy’s family. I had the opportunity to drive Maria’s new BMW 330 Ci convertible. They are not kidding when they call it the ultimate driving machine. Fuild and fun. Nothing quite like the Garden State Parkway with the top down and Jamiroquai bumping. Nice nice. I’ll be returning to Philly tomorrow to get in another few days with Connie and crew. The word for the weekend is Bluetooth. Until then…

I heard an amazing radio interview with Camile Paglia about her new book ‘Break, Blow, Burn’, which is a compilation and analysis of her 42 favorite poems in the English language. I took all of her classes at the University, so hearing her speak took me back a few years. She has my respect and admiration because she is fearless with her opinions. She just says it. Today she brought up something that I’ve been thinking about for a while: In the midst of this horrible war our nation is fighting, where is the protest art? Where are the angry songs and poems? Where is the passion against our government misleading our country into a confrontation that has no upside for the U.S.(I filled up in Detroit for a mere 2.25/gal). It’s time to use our voices. It’s time to question. We were lied to. Malice and greed. In other news, I had a nice flight back to Philadelphia today. Great to see my Dad, my work schedule forced me to miss Mom(I’m writing this quitely from their kitchen). Shhh. Had a very good session with two new artists that Connie ha signed to Versatile, Lil’ Rol, and Reem. Real down south hip-hop ala Goodie Mob and Lil’ Jon. Quality voices and good musical sensibilities. We’re working on a mixtape featuring all the Versatile artists including Lil’ Rol, Reem, Connie, and Alfa Mega. The beat goes on…

On Terry Schiavo : tragic situation, but the US Supreme and district courts must be the highest law of the land. The courts define who we are as a people, I’m glad to see that their rule is law. On the Pope : he was a humanist who tried to bring people together. A full life, well lived. Other news : I’m looking forward to returning to Philadelphia to make some music with Connie and see my family. My brother got me good for April Fools, told me he accidentally threw out all my old records. Whew. That was a tense moment on the cell phone. I’ve got another meeting with Sonic Orchard upon my return to Detroit. Yum. Chrissy’s birthday is coming up. My old lady…
