Benjamin Teague and I attacked 'Brasileirinho' today. A classic Braziallian standard. Basically a few chords and notes that you have to play as fast as you possibly can. Sounded awesome. We'll be playing it this Friday at the Susanne Hilberry gallery, which is opening a show of Josh Smith's works. Fun.
I recorded a bunch of new stuff with Libby Kanan this week. We started writing to the songs I had given her a few weeks ago. So far so good. Two of them can be really hot. Looking forward to getting some vocals cut.
I'm editing and playing on the songs that David Dworanczyk sent back to me. He did an awesome job with the drums and percussion. Still staring at my Jazz bass wondering what to do. Really digging into my sight reading practice. Shedding the Wohlfart book every night. Shoppin for a strobe tuner and some peace of mind. Filling out my AFM, musician's union, application. Just renewed my NARAS membership and figured I should finally get on board with the union too. Velamints. Looking for Itamar Meiri. If anyone has seen him, pass word on.

OK. I met Phillip Treacy @ Cranbrook. Great guy. Brilliant hats. His show is on tour and parked at the Cranbrook Museum for a spell.
I've been sprucing up my Jazz Bass, I've grounded and shielded it for more silence in the studio. It really sounds great now. I'm considering putting active pickups in it. We'll see. I'm working on a technical paper instructing others on how to shield and ground the Fender Standard Jazz Bass.
I've also upgraded my home racks to TT bays. After a few weeks of soldering and splicing I have a fully connected little production setup again. Having access to all my outboard gear is a great thing. I've got a lot of new stuff in the pipeline.
I've received the drum tracks back from David Dworanczyk to add to my 4 song EP 'The Floating Shift". I'll have that done in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to cutting a 45 RPM with John C. . I'm also considering a beat challenge to issue to a few Detroit producers, maybe start an instrumental record series.
