Peter Kurie and I had a great time performing at Fergie's Pub last night. Really enjoyed the first performer too, Alison. I'll have to get her last name. I've forgotten it. She sang original songs accompanied by guitar and cello. It was really nice. Peter and I were setting up when who should walk in by my brother Jon. My family has been central to my musical growth and path so it was great to have him and my folks there last night for what was my solo singing debut. I'd done a bit of background vocal work in Michigan with Middlehill and I've always sung in the studio, but this was the first time I was left to my own devices for a half hour. Amos Lee and Mutlu were there too, which added to the nerves. It's very challenging, trying not to butcher the songs of others in the prescence of so many really good songwriters and musicians. Between Amos, Mutlu, Alison, Dave Dworanczyk and Peter Kurie it was a room filled with 500 lb gorillas. I made the small audience laugh and sing along. So I think everyone had a good time and the bartender seemed happy with the tally. I enjoy the challenge of beiing pushed out of the studio and onto the stage again. It's one of the things I wanted to get back into upon returning to Philly. Speaking of which, I'm off to rehearsal with Pete Distefano and Craig Lewis. Channeling Liberace...

Wowza what a weekend. I spent a lot of time in the studio at Roselane East with Stranger's Vibe this weekend. Had a ball. Great guys. Really fun session. Great results. I'll link to their myspace when the mixes are completed. Really enjoyed workin on the Sony console and having access to Roselane's extensive snare drum collection. It's like kid in the candy store style fun.
So, Anwar did not win the MTV contest. It's a bummer. We have started a new project, The Midnighters. Myself, Anwar, and Deck Master D are producing some beats in a vs. style sonic challenge. Stay tuned for the results which are due next month. Very exciting.
I started teaching my MIDI/DAW II class at Camden County College today. The class will be focusing on Logic Pro. It's a good group. It's a great challenge and great opportunity to really be diving into Logic. Nice nice.
In other news, I'll be appearing solo and with Peter Kurie this Saturday night at Fergie's Pub here in Philly. I'll be doing a solo set of cover songs and jazz standards. Trying to sing and play my tail off. I enjoy being pushed to perform solo like this. Come on by. It'll be very exciting.

Had a ball in Las Vegas for new years. Stayed at the Mirage, ate well, made a deposit at the casinos. Worked it out. Really had a great time and we look forward to returning. Yes, that is a photo of some of Liberace's shoes.
I've been hitting the pavement since our return. Scraping together some new work in what has been a very dry spell. Getting ready to return to teaching at Camden College. One day a week. MIDI/DAW classes. It'll be a lot of fun. Also looking forward to working with "Stranger's Vibe" at Roselane next weekend. Can't wait to warm up all those great mic pres.
I've jumped into the studio, taking advantage of the down time. Check out my music page for a new track. A few more on the way for next week. The episode of Iconoclasts on the Sundance Channel featuring Maya Angelou and Dave Chappell is amazing.
