Funerial wood carvingMe and Itamar We had the pleasure of seeing an old friend this weekend under some amazing cirumstances. is touring the states with Israeli pop legend Rita. They were performing at George Washington University in DC. We drove down, saw Itamar, went out for some rockin' Korean food off of Dupont Circle and attended the performance. It was magical. Over 1000 people in attendance, many of them Israelis. The whole audience was singing along in hebrew. They knew every song and showed Rita and her band a lot of love. That crowd knew how to party. Great band. Excellent light show. Rita has an amazing voice. During the first set some fans walked up to the stage with roses and boquets for her. The fron of the stage was covered with flowers from her fans. At one point Itamar and Rita were both seated at the edge of the stage and did an acoustic song together. Some verses were just Itamar and the audience. Very beautiful. It was great to see a fellow musician and friend working it out and making good things happen fofr himself. Hope to see him soon in Tel Aviv!

Today we visited the Hirschorn and African Art museums. DC is a tough city to drive around in, but very much worth the effort.

06 08 07 3:13 |Only one comment iPhone do you?

MP3 playing cell phones have been around for years. UNIX has been around longer than I have. The PowerMac 5300 was an all in one Apple computer from 1996. But it took OS X and the iMac's design elements to make these ideas and technologies really sing to the public. The real news on the iPhone is that it may be the best converged UMPC device currently available, it may make OS X a leading mobile OS. It is running a very real version of Mac OS 10.4.something, so if and when developers get the SDK for it, heck, hold onto your hats.  It's more than just and iPod + phone and I hope the marketplace sees it that way. It might be alot of things, including a dud.

For now, I'm sticking with my S60 Smartphone. Easy. Affordable enough to replace. Reliable. Tried and true. But I hope the iPhone shakes up the market. I hope it forces other developers and manufacturers to bring their A games to the plate. I hope it shows the US marketplace that we want converged mobile devices. I hope it shows network companies that we want 3G + speeds, and on and on and on.

Summer is rushing in to our hamlet here in South Philadelphia. Weather ranging from hot to cold and cold to hot. We have been grilling quite a bit to keep the heat out of the kitchen. Things have been good and busy at Center City Film and Video. The new show "The Let's Go Show" is about to really get underway. 20 episodes in about as many days. Should be yummy and challenging. I am eagerly awaiting the announcement of T-Mobile's 3G network. Just to get a sense of which way the wind blows in terms of future wireless connectivity (as it is about time for a new laptop and phone). I received my order of Haband clothes today, and you were right, the pants are awful, half of them are going back. I'll post a picture of me wearing some truly absurd duds. We spent the weekend in NYC celebrating my Cousins Jennifer and Christina Baker's graduation from High School and College respectively. Also enjoyed the last day of the Gordon Matta-Clark show at the Whitney, and the Serra show at the MOMA. Matta-Clark's work was amazing to experience through the films he created as documentation. The layout of the show was crowded which I think took away from the removed sections of buildings, but the films! Damn. The Richard Serra opening was stunning in a number of ways. That's an image over there. If you go to the show. Check out the 2 pieces in the courtyard. Clap your hands or shout as you are walking through. You'll never hear anything like it. It's not every day we get to walk between 2 torqued steel walls 4 feet apart and 16 feet high. The whole day was really wonderful.

I've finished some work for nFormation Design's yeast cell 3D web exploration project for U Mich. Also, diving back into the Midnighter's Project. Had the chance to visit with Bradley Rhodes in NYC, too. He's diving into some very exciting new work. Big news there. Stay tuned. See www.sproutonline.com for my latest projects. Ta dah!

Christina and I are thrilled for Elliott Earls and his family on the arrival of their latest son, Tollnom. That's not his real name but anyhow. We are also deeply saddened by the loss of Sabrina Seelig. Our thoughts are with Warren and family.
